Always remember

We made the day a devotional prep day - all devotionals will now introduce the day, share a scripture, apply it, and new to the class, ask a question. We'll see how the new format goes starting tomorrow. Class gets extra credit for diving right into the scriptures that early in the morning.

For the spiritual thought I shared that yesterday at tithing settlement my son Daniel was presented with 10 skittles in order to give 1 back. When selecting the 1 he found a fairly blemished skittle. We had a good on the spot discussion about giving the Lord our best.

Today we focused on Exodus 12. We read the chapter in turn around the class while I prepared a passover meal. We spoke of the symbols of the bitter herbs (sin), blood (atonement), lamb (Christ), and unleavened bread (repentance). We finished by reading the sacrament prayer and focused on the number of times the prayer says "remember" and how the Passover is a way for the Jews to remember their salvation from the Egyptians.

14 And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the Lord throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.

We then all stood up, said our closing prayer, ate from the passover plate, and made our way off for the day. 

I hope those that were with us today felt of the importance of this ordinance for the Jews and have a deeper appreciation for the experience each week of partaking of the Sacrament. 

We will likely revisit the Passover during the Easter season in the Spring.
