We spent today in 1 Samuel 16-17. Great devotional from Jonathan on 1 Samuel 16:7 -- "...for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart."
We recapped Saul's rise and fall and introduced David. Then we thought individually about our personal "Goliath's" -- the big challenges that are in our paths right now.
After ID-ing our own Goliaths, we went to the gym and read the epic ancient trash-talk that took place between David & Goliath. Then we split into four teams and took turns slinging rubber stones from the free-throw line toward the life-size Goliath target depicted below (props to Jonathan for the historical re-enactment idea):
Anna E. was the one and only slinger to actually hit Goliath, which yielded her team 20 extra points and a win. Turns out ancient slinging is more difficult than one might have expected.
We wrapped up with my testimony of how we can indeed face and defeat the Goliaths in our lives. Hope you all have a great day.
