We held our first class today. 18 students with only a few missing.
Brother Homer introduced himself and shared a story about his visit to Denmark and a museum with Carl Bloch prints. He shared how they were tucked away in the museum, difficult to find, but beautiful to the sight once he found them. He paused an extra minute and took in the Spirit that he felt there. He reminded us of how the Old Testament has many great truths tucked away that we will find throughout our study and that he hopes we will feel the Spirit as a class throughout our time together.
We then did a get to know you activity. Highlights were that one girl wants to marry a billionaire, another a millionaire, and one boy likes dates (the fruit that is).

Brother Osguthorpe brought some apples and honey to share as part of understanding Rosh Hashanah - the Jewish New Year celebration started Sunday night - perfectly in time with our year in Seminary.
Brother Osguthorpe had each of the youth think about the decisions that had made since they woke up that day. He detailed the decisions he had made from wake-up time to class-time focusing on the sheer number of decisions and the fact that rather than getting mad at someone for being late and rather than break a law and run a red light he held it together. He hopes we will learn from the many decisions made by the likes of Joseph to flee Potiphar's wife to make good decisions every day.
Class logistics:
- We would like all students to bring own paper copy scriptures to class each day
- We will publish a class schedule for reading and topics for each day
- We will set aside time to prepare for devotionals and to complete some reading in class each day
